About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (currently a year behind!), plus any cards as required. As my Carpal Tunnel allows I am getting into yarn/fabric crafts with slow stitching and needle felting added to my list. I continue with my love of Watercolour and Bible Journaling plus Faith/Art Journaling with acrylics and inks. I completed my challenge to make an art journal page a day for my 60th year in 2024. My list of crafty exploits includes ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing. I also like Walking/Geocaching. I have been learning to play the harp for the past 10yrs. I am now officially retired. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Evangelical Church.

WOYWW #429 - Blessings

Well the nearest I have got to crafting this past week is opening the pack of diecuts my friend gave me.

She is loving her "new" Cuttlebug which she acquired secondhand after chatting in a craft shop queue.

I had a great week last week with blessings falling from heaven left right and centre.

1) My son got A*AA for his A-levels and secured his place in Southampton University - NEXT MONTH! -

Oh dear empty nester syndrome approaching fast...........

2) In Geocahing got a First To Find (FTF) with my son - treasuring these last days with him at home.

3) Took my son driving on the Motorway for the first time.

4) Impromptu meeting-up with 2 old school friends last Saturday not seen them for 14yrs/40yrs!

5) Played 2 good evenings of Badminton, loads of exercise.

6) Volunteered at a Tea Dance, found a new dance school and went to a social last Friday and it was brill, so even more exercise.

7) Actually seem to be losing a bit of weight and have been sleeping marginally better too.

Not doing so well this week, in fact I think this week has been cancelled! It'll pass and if I feel any better I can of course do some crafting.

Did get this lovely SWAP card on our theme of Gingham though, that will help me smile this week.

Happy WOYWW Everyone.

WOYWW #428 - Journal & Cards

My desk this week.

Just remembered I got a new white pen last week and it is proving to work well. It is a Uni-ball Signo broad, pigment ink. Not had much luck with white pens in the past - we'll see.

So I did the journal page inspired by the diecuts from last week, in fact I did two!

I also made a card from the diecuts for a SWAP on the theme of Gingham.

I  also added the new "Happy Birthday" diecuts to two previously made cards for birthdays this month.

So I actually got a bit crafty and inky this past week in the end - horrah.

Happy WOYWW Everyone.

WOYWW #425 - Delivery Man

Yep delivery man woke me with a phone call at 7.30am to say he'd be here between 10am-11am! What a way to start the day!

Anyway Julia's Facebook post for WOYWW prompted me to get my post done today, so still in my nightie here is my desk.

I have actually done some scrapping, Shock Horror!

All this talk about doing cards for this year's Christmas and I am still on last year's Christmas photos for scraping!

Having fixed last week's Corsa Doll "Red", I thought I'd make the hanger for his friend "White" the same so will be doing that this week.

Both were very faded so I have touched up their mouths and eyes with Sharpie pens. Took a while to dry but seems to have done the trick.

I also have a bigger version of "Blue" who sits on the dashboard.

Here is a picture of them all, Cheri, White, Blue Moo, and Red. I guess I only liked the male versions!!

Popped in to The Works last week and bought my son a book on "Equations" so had to get myself something so got these paper pads.

I received this lovely array of colourful items for a SWAP on the theme of "Colour Fest" from fellow WOYWWer Sue.

And the delivery man, what is he delivering you may be thinking?

Well the scorching sun from past months has done untold damage to our kitchen "caravan" skylight so Hubby ordered a new one. Hope the rain will go away so he can fit it soon.....

Better get dressed before the delivery man comes don't you think!

Happy WOYWW Everyone.

WOYWW #402 - Happy Birthday ME!

Gosh 53yrs - really????   Yep born in 1964 so it must be!!

The desk shows the latest scrapbook page I am working on, my journal and other Love card.

Got a bit of "LOVE" inspiration from our host's desk a while back although neither of us can find the original post - blog or facebook???? Anyway Julia assures me it was her original creation which launched my crafting.

Firstly I made a SWAP card on the theme of LOVE, plus a spare.

I then changed up the colours, but had lots of paint left on my board so spread it on my journal.

The journal page just grew and grew and I added my favourite Tennyson quote.

"O love, O fire! Once he drew
With one long kiss, my whole soul through
My lips as sunlight drinketh dew."

I then adapted and blinged up the spare for a friend's Valentine Birthday.

Then changed the items for twin boys 15th birthday cards. (today too!!)

Thanks for the inspiration Julia.

Oh and the other scrapbook pages I have done this past week.....

WOYWW #398 - Flowers Abound

Here's my desk today. Just got a couple deliveries, 2 books for preschool and 3 stickles.

The stickles colours are:- Lagoon, Gold and Raspberry Tart.

The Raspberry Tart isn't exactly what I was expecting as the basic pink colour is flecked with holographic blue a bit like the Crystal.

My makes for this week are, a tag for a SWAP.

Then I used the left-over flower diecuts for a journal page and one of my favourite poem quotes by Edna St. Vincent Millay.

I will be the gladdest thing under the sun!
I will touch a hundred flowers and not pick one.

Finally I did the last page of my 60 page 12th 12x12 scrapbook album.

Still have over 100 photos to scrap to finish off 2016, goodness me!

Happy WOYWW Everyone.

PS And my favourite music of the moment is Ed Sheeran. I downloaded his latest 2 singles and have pre-ordered his new album due out on 3rd March called Divide. Oh YES!

WOYWW #385 - Greys with an Accent Colour

The theme for this month's SWAP on UKPC is:-

Greys with an Accent Colour of Your Choice.

The 2 cards done so far have turquoise and pink so I went with orange.

I had pondered this for a while and had to force myself (yet again) to sit at my desk and actually DO something.

SAD light on and it seems to have done the trick too.

I used various grey pieces of card for the oak leaves and Spiced Marmalade and Iced Spruce inks.

Thought the corners cut out added a nice feature plus my usual liquid pearls and stickles.

Here's my finished card - phew done it!

Happy WOYWW Everyone.

WOYWW #372 Relief & Inspiration

Relief - a cool breeze today as the past few days have been scorching!

Relief - We're back with Julia today - Horrah.

Thanks to Jan for hosting these past few weeks.

Inspiration - I was so taken by my anniversary ATC from Diana Taylor (on the left) that I had a go making one like it, I blogged that earlier in the week here > Flower Study.

Inspiration - How to make dark brown Liquid Pearls? Mix Platinum LP with Walnut Stain distress ink, works a treat, although have since ordered some Dark Chocolate LP.

Inspiration - The ATC led me to a journal page which I have dedicated to all those who lost their lives in Nice last week, what a tragedy!

Inspiration - Made a few birthday cards this week, well added numbers to previously made cards.

Also received a gorgeous Celestial SWAP card (below) and can show you mine too.

Inspiration - My latest venture is Pokémon Go, yes I know I'm 52yrs and my teen son thinks it is lame, but why not? I chose purple hair for my avatar which is called BJKaraway.

Relief - Had my ear irrigated yesterday and the nurse did it in a jiffy. So much better than my experience last year which left me with an ear infection.

Relief - Some of you might remember I hadn't been too well of late. Well after three weeks (yes 3) of a heavy period, making me house bound, I finally "bit the bullet" and since Monday I am on medication (Norethisterone) which has nearly stopped it! Horrah. It is only a 10 day course so we'll have to see what my peri-menopausal body decides to do next, but it sure is a relief for now, especially in this hot weather.

Relief - I'm seeing a surgeon about my Carpal Tunnel this evening too.

Oh and you might have noticed a couple of scrap pages on the go too. I lacked inspiration for those so am using some papers and various ready made bits and bobs too from collections for a change.

So yes Relief & Inspiration all round this week, and if you made it this far, congratulations!

Happy WOYWW everyone.

WOYWW #363 - Not Another Magazine Freebie!

Here's my desk in all its glory this week for WOYWW. I didn't move a thing, just held my breath and took the photo!
So yes another magazine, I think I go by the mantra, "If it's got a freebie die I'm a gonna!"

I had a bit of trouble with the first cut of this intricate die. Don't think it liked the pink pearl textured card as I had to dig it out in bits! Tried again with some plain white thick card and managed that OK, although I did douse the die in talc beforehand!

Also on my desk is my next scrappage pending. Some various photos of me and my harp, some flowers for Valentines and my first pot of daffs of the Spring.

I did do my Christmas scrappage during the week too and a SWAP card for the Paris in Springtime theme.

Oh and the sunflower has grown so much I had to repot it,  plus I planted a few more seeds as only one of the seedlings from the last CD case planting survived. Grass head is going manic and there'll be cress for sandwiches soon.

Happy WOYWW everyone.
