About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (currently a year behind!), plus any cards as required. As my Carpal Tunnel allows I am getting into yarn/fabric crafts with slow stitching and needle felting added to my list. I continue with my love of Watercolour and Bible Journaling plus Faith/Art Journaling with acrylics and inks. I completed my challenge to make an art journal page a day for my 60th year in 2024. My list of crafty exploits includes ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing. I also like Walking/Geocaching. I have been learning to play the harp for the past 10yrs. I am now officially retired. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Evangelical Church.

WOYWW #427 - Craftiness

Nothing like a Craft Shop Birthday Demo Day to get the ball rolling.

Met up with a couple of new crafty friends last Saturday and headed out to CraftsULove in Charlwood.

Bought some dies and got a goodie bag.

Then watched the demos and bought some more dies!!! Even got a die in the goodie bag.

Die Heaven!

So my desk is covered with the first cuts of said dies! I can feel a journal page coming on.....

I got a couple of 12x12 sheets in the goodie bag and would you believe one of mine had a fairy playing the harp on it - all my friends had a different sheet - so how cool was that, someone is watching over me.

Loved this demo card for Christmas so bought the tree die.

Then added its first cut onto my current scrapbook page (yes still on last Christmas).

The best thing of all was when we were in the very big queue for the checkout and my friend was getting dies despite not having a diecutting machine. We were chatting about this and the lady behind had one to spare and just happened to live near me so I went and got it later for £20 - bargin. What an amazing coincidence.

And for the record
I also placed and had published a new geocache in a local church and added pirate goodies for the Summer theme.

Add on top of that I wasn't well last Thursday evening and all day Friday, as well as the previous Monday. My hormones are really mixing it up these days, no idea what each day will bring but still hanging in there.

Happy WOYWW Everyone.

WOYWW #406 - More Embroidery

I think the embroidery has taken centre stage this week.

It certainly has evolved and I have a vague plan now - the colour wheel!

My daily progress can be seen on my previous post.

I stamped the dragonflies before filling them in with stitches. Who knew stamping would transfer to embroidery?

The spirals are being done with purple metallic thread so are taking an age...

Also I have moved the lounge round so we sit on the opposite sides of the sofas and having moved my harp have actually played it this week. Must have been months since I did last.

Planted a few plants in the garden too.

Spring is definitely in the air round here.

Happy WOYWW Everyone.

WOYWW #367 - Updates & Harp

Not so much to show on my desk today so thought I'd pop my little harp on there as I have been having a bit of a harp week (see below).

Other than that there is a blank card awaiting inspiration for my husband's 60th birthday.

These are the crowns we made at preschool last week.

I wore my example one for the whole session, and I helped all 23 children make their own one too.

The sunflower has grown a lot, even more since I took this photo! Must pot on the little ones.

Scrapping of the last of my birthday photos.
I used up a 12x12 paper which had a circle cut from it so filled the space with a piece of plain card which itself wasn't quite big enough and I had to gut that for the embellishments!

I also made some harp threading cards for preschool as I am taking my little harp in to show them for music week tomorrow.

Happy WOYWW everyone.

WOYWW #364 - 7th Anniversary

Yay I made it to the WOYWW 7th anniversary, which makes it 10 weeks in a row for me after a long absence.

I have even made a couple of ATCs, one to SWAP and one to keep.

I was inspired by a twinchie I made a few years ago.

As for my desk, not so good - been having a problem with the wall so had to remove some stuff and it hasn't made its way back yet.

I did finish the scrapbook page in the week though, after as shopping trip where I bought some new clothes and some of the mini dies just like our Julia had on her desk a few weeks back.

I used the triangles from the bunting die and the ribbons from the t-shirts to complete my page.

A few people asked about my harp last week. Yes I am still playing and even treated myself to a bigger harp last year. I'm still only at grade 1 or 2 level and finding reading music really hard but plodding along.

WOYWW #363 - Not Another Magazine Freebie!

Here's my desk in all its glory this week for WOYWW. I didn't move a thing, just held my breath and took the photo!
So yes another magazine, I think I go by the mantra, "If it's got a freebie die I'm a gonna!"

I had a bit of trouble with the first cut of this intricate die. Don't think it liked the pink pearl textured card as I had to dig it out in bits! Tried again with some plain white thick card and managed that OK, although I did douse the die in talc beforehand!

Also on my desk is my next scrappage pending. Some various photos of me and my harp, some flowers for Valentines and my first pot of daffs of the Spring.

I did do my Christmas scrappage during the week too and a SWAP card for the Paris in Springtime theme.

Oh and the sunflower has grown so much I had to repot it,  plus I planted a few more seeds as only one of the seedlings from the last CD case planting survived. Grass head is going manic and there'll be cress for sandwiches soon.

Happy WOYWW everyone.

Fires at Midnight

I have had my "big" harp for a year now and am learning some tunes from the old "Scottish Music Graded Exams for Harp" book - still grade one though!

I say "old" as the Scottish exam board have changed their syllabus so my harp teacher got lots of the books for a good price. I'm not really intending to take an exam at my age, especially as my son says I don't really need it for my CV now, but it is a good structure to work through all the same.

So my latest favourite tune is "Fires at Midnight". It is recent gentle waltz composition by Wendy Stewart.

I started with a Wendy Stewart tune, "The Streams of Abernethy" back in March 2014. It was my first tune after I started lessons. I made this journal page back then.

Anyway I have tried to record "Fires at Midnight". This is my 9th attempt and I still haven't mastered it but I am working on it.

My previous recording was in April 2015 of a piece called "Charlotte in Spring"
