About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (currently a year behind!), plus any cards as required. As my Carpal Tunnel allows I am getting into yarn/fabric crafts with slow stitching and needle felting added to my list. I continue with my love of Watercolour and Bible Journaling plus Faith/Art Journaling with acrylics and inks. I completed my challenge to make an art journal page a day for my 60th year in 2024. My list of crafty exploits includes ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing. I also like Walking/Geocaching. I have been learning to play the harp for the past 10yrs. I am now officially retired. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Evangelical Church.

WOYWW #415 - Mainly Scrapping

Laid out on my desk are my next two scrapbook pages.

The last two are hanging up still.

The others are already in my album.

Yep done quite a bit of scrapping this week.

Also a journal page using up the frames from The Works" dies I got last Thursday.

A few cards I need for next week.

And as I found a beautiful fabric butterfly when looking for something else, I added that to my embroidery.

Got a friend coming round for a crafty play date this morning too.

Happy WOYWW Everyone.

WOYWW #414 - Something Had to Give

Yep something HAD to give if I was to get back into scrapping!

Thanks to WOYWW and doing my replies a bit late last week I came across a scrapbook blog hop on Julia's page which spurred me back into my scrapping.

I've done a couple of pages and as you can see am planning the next ones too....

Last Saturday I had to make a card to be posted that day so this is what I came up with.

I have started May's embroidery and was doing well until yesterday which turned out to be an "extra" busy day so I didn't do any embroidery at all. First day missed since 6th March! Yep something had to give!

The reason for my "extra" busy Tuesday was a visit to the opticians where I found I now need glasses for driving! Oh Dear!

During my visit, I had to move the car as they were running late and I had to drive home and then I had to drive to badminton volunteering in the afternoon and also to house group in the evening. Lots of driving. Oops!

Well I ordered some plain driving lenses via the internet when I got home (£19.40 inc P&P) They were dispatched yesterday so I am hopeful of them arriving today.

I also ordered some varifocals at Boots opticians too, they'll cost £145 and will take about a week.

Will this be the end of reading glasses dotted all around the house and in various bags??? I wonder?
Happy WOYWW Everyone.

May's Embroidery

Another free flow embroidery in neutral shades.

Started well on 1st May but missed doing anything yesterday, first time since starting the one year of stitches on 6th March.

Tuesday is my "busy" day, oh well I won't beat myself up about it we're all human after all.

So that's the first 8 days of May, doing a bit of this and a bit of that.

Choosing whatever stitch I fancy and stitching where ever I fancy too. Adding lots of bits and bobs as well.

This is so much easier than following a pattern which means I can do it whilst watching TV of an evening in artificial light.

WOYWW #413 - It's Finished

I finished my embroidery on Friday and posted it to Mum yesterday and she received it today and is overjoyed and completely surprised too.

So obviously this view (from my bed) is earlier in the week as I have the embroidery hanging up over the fireplace and a stretching on the go.

Pondering my next project, I emptied out the drawer under my bed of all the UFO's (unfinished objects) and you'll see there is a mountain of them!

I decided to stretch the "boat" embroidery which has been waiting patiently for 20yrs! So that is done now. I have had its "twin" on the wall for as long so will need to get this one framed similarly, or it might do it myself.

I made this card last week amongst all the embroidery.

And I have started another circular sampler type free form embroidery for this month.

So other than saying, I was a little premature about the medication as I'm having a blip with it this week, not fun, no idea what's happening or when it will stop, that's me for this week.

Happy WOYWW Everyone.

WOYWW #412 - Joining the Dots

Gosh what a week!

Made my first flat jellyfish for a premature baby but have yet to do the eyes.

Mum sent me some more yarn so I will be able to do those now.
Mum has loads of yarn left over from her shop so said she could donate to the Octopus for a Preemie charity so I arranged for her to meet up with the South Wales coordinator.

I have just joined a new church and went on their church weekend away last weekend. What a wonderfully uplifting time we all had.

I took my embroidery so I could keep up with my 1 year of stitches too.

I got the Bic Cristal pens on recommendation from one of the girls there as well.

The swan was a late arriving Easter present from my husband.

The money from a badminton club for buying shuttlecocks for them.

Lots of doors seem to be opening for me and as the medication seems to be doing the trick I am able to say "yes" and not worry about being housebound each month!

WOYWW #411 - Octopus for a Preemie

I seem to have been taken by the need to make an Octopus for a Premature Baby.

So I joined the FaceBook group, Octopus for a Preemie UK and have been researching the requirements as they are quite stringent.

I have a sock stuffed with my stuffing and a few lengths of my yarn as they aren't on the "recommended" list and certainly don't say whether you can wash at 60C either! We'll see.

Other things I have been up to.

SWAP card using peel-offs.

Peel-Off Journal page as I discovered a lighthouse and have been wanting to do a lighthouse page in ages.

I did a scrapbook page inspired by a lovely WOYWWer although it isn't a bit like the original, I was inspired.

And here's my latest embroidery photo

Off to the dentist to have a broken tooth/filling seen to. It broke a month ago and it was not right for a while before that so looking forward to eating on both sides again!

Happy WOYWW Everyone.

Embroidery - Week 6

Picnic Time is coming along nicely, I finished the picnic blanket and flowers.

I followed that by the water and ducks.

Although I seem to have a ninja duck - can you spot him!

I'm now on the final straight.

I don't need to move my hoop again and just have the 3 children to finish.

Pondering what to do next now.

WOYWW #410 - Painting!

So my husband got sick of all my flower things in his cable tie tube so he made this for them.

I laughed and said I'd have to paint it!

Woke early and decided to do just that!

It started life a piece of cardboard tube hot glued to a wall tile.

Still doing daily embroidery too. Weekly update here. I even stretched and finished my colour wheel embroidery so now have my large hoop to work with, much better.

Happy WOYWW Everyone.

Embroidery - Week 5

I have made a good start with the "Picnic Time" Kit.

I did a search on the computer to see if this kit (P751) still exists but couldn't find it anywhere.

It is by Penelope of Wm Briggs & Co. Ltd. originally of Bolton Lancs. UK. which seems to relate to Coats now!

I started with my next largest hoop which is 6" (seem to have 2 of those) but needed to keep moving it so did a bit without a hoop. By Wednesday I decided to take my colour wheel piece out of my only 10" hoop and stretch it properly. I edged it with black braid.

I keep forgetting to photograph "Picnic Time" each day, probably because I am doing it downstairs in the sunshine of the conservatory and tend to put it away when the light fades, hence I forget to take a photo!

Anyway here are a few days work up until Saturday evening (above).
