About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (usually about 6 months behind), plus any cards as required. I have a new found love of watercolour and Bible Journaling plus recently Junk Journaling too. Previously I've also dabbled in ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Art Journaling, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery amongst other things. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing, but am plagued by a bad back. I like walking which I couple with Geocaching and sometimes Bouncing on my Rebounder (mini trampoline). I guess I am officially retired now. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Vineyard Church.

WOYWW #584 - Drastic Times - Drastic Measures

Well here I am back on the Computer (Long Story) and automatically straight to the new blogger and can't spot the legacy button here either (like tablet last week) so I'm going to go with it!!!

Managed to add photo but no idea how to move it, deleted it by accident but really glad of "Ctrl Z - Undo" on the PC!

I'm really struggling with this heat and go to sleep naked under a damp tea towel. Yes you heard it right.

I saw a consultant about my shoulder yesterday (apparently Frozen Shoulder) and on entry to the hospital my temp was 39 C the highest the guy had ever recorded. I had to wait until it came down before I could enter! I sat with cool pad and mini fan - LOL. Question is, do I opt for the surgery as I've had this for over a year now??? Tried Osteopath, Steroid Injection and Physio over the past year btw.

Anyway, here's the draft of the scrapbook page on my desk. I know now it marks my LMP as it was 18 months ago. I'd struggled with extremely heavy and prolonged periods for quite a few years and had to resort to taking Northisterone once a year to just stop it all for a while. This was the last time days before I turned 55yrs.

It's left me with Frozen Shoulder loads of aches and pains and generally HOT with hot flashes on top. Even in the Winter I don't have heating on in my bedroom and the window open! I am SO struggling right now!

I have managed some scrapping in the slightly cooler times.

My Friend's live streamed wedding from the USA, back in January 2019, who knew this would be the new norm? My son's return to Uni in Year 2, I took him as my hubby was recovering from surgery.

Some stuff with hubby whilst son away. Some geocaching when we popped into a garden centre and I got this fairy half price in the January sale. The last time we actually ate out, so quite a moment for us!

Here's the  pile of goodies I got from The Works delivered yesterday. I used my loyalty voucher on-line but the reduction didn't show up despite clicking the button. Hence emails ensue only to find out it doesn't show online but is actually counted so I was charged less than it says - curious.

Think I best stop whilst the going is good (blogger speaking) and go for a walk in the relative cool as now hubby is up so I won't have to close all the doors and windows.

Happy WOYWW Everyone.

your works order looks good - enjoy - to answer your question last week they have a good system in the shop, one in one out although when I was there it was very quiet anyway. Hope you find a solution to your frozen should that doesn't require surgery but sounds like you've exhausted lots of options! take care. Helen #2

Happy WOYWW and hope your walk was reasonably cool. It has been a lot cooler in Pembrokeshire than a lot of the UK - mostly temperatures around 22-24, and even cooler at times. Still wearing a coat on my first and last walks of the day, and wearing my cosy slipper boots in the craft room. Menopause for me has been sort of ok. I did go on HRT when Perimenopause first caused mood swings/hot flushes a couple of years ago (I am 49). However, I stopped that when it proved more and more difficult for the pharmacist to get hold of the prescribed items. I saw a Menopause Specialist and she suggested a vaginal cream to help with 'localised symptoms', but haven't even used that since last year. In full Menopause now, and I get very brief hot flushes (usually only a few seconds), mostly at 9 pm and then through the night (my sleep is disturbed by Fibromyalgia anyway). It is difficult to see whether specific symptoms are because of Fibro, being constantly tired or the depression that can come with those, or whether it is Menopause. 'Such fun'!! I love The Works too - but still making an effort to not buy anything (even after 2 big declutters, my craft room is too full). Ali x #5

Looks a nice stash of jigsaws etc. from the Works - annoying that the discount didn't show up though. Cool layouts. Hope your son's second year at Uni goes well. To find the legacy button for Blogger, it should be at the bottom of the left hand tool list if you scroll down on your dashboard (on the PC), that's where mine was. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. I've been doing Jigsaws too but have got mine from ebay - I do like The Works as a shop but cen't be bothered driving to Carmarthen to visit! The LOs are great and you're doing so well keeping up with the more recent pics. Sorry that your shoulder is causing such grief still, I hope you find dome solution quickly.

Oh poor BJ, life's not treating you well is it.
What sort of surgery are they offering you, because if it is a shoulder replacement, I'd recommend it 100%,my shoulder is brilliant.
Your scrap book pages are brilliant, thanks for sharing

Hi BJ, I think the surgery will depend on what likely outcomes they are predicting. My DIL had a back injury as a child, and they had to fuse some sections of her spine. Over the years it's got worse, and they did say surgery was an option, but that it could either help, make no difference or make it worse, so she saw it as only a small chance of it helping so never went ahead.Like you I'm struggling in this heat, and I too have an open bedroom window and a fan running, even in winter. Great layouts, and The Works always has some great stuff at great prices. Stay safe, have a lovely week, hugs, Shaz #4 X

Hi BJ, the legacy button is in the corner bottom left when you go into the listings for the posts, stats, comments etc. I keep trying out the new interface but still not completely happy with it and I've made a list of those things I don't like so that I can go on their forum and give them the list. Your problems are some I have on the list. I have worked some of it out but it's not easy to work out what to do whereas the old system was easy. Any way enough of that. Loving your layouts and fingers crossed that the weather cools down. Wishing you a very happy week and a lovely creative woyww, Angela x16x

Hi BJ, whether to have surgery or not is a difficult choice and for me would depend on the predicted outcome. They wanted to fuse the bottom of my spine a few years ago and then said I may not be able to walk afterwards! I said no! I did think about asking you where you place the t-towel, but perhaps no🤣. I dont think you’re alone with the heat, its a real struggle for some. I sleep naked year round, in this weather we shower and lie on the bed slightly damp...no covers. It helps us go off, and once I’m asleep, I dont notice much unless I’m cold! I’m so sorry about your shoulder, I didn’t realise how ongoing a problem its been. What’s the surgery? A tweak or a new shoulder? Ask lots and lots of questions before arriving at your decision; I’m sure you will. Lovely that you’ve managed a few more LOs, I really like the ‘Lady of a Certain Age’ LO! I used Norethisterone to control hideous periods for years. Have you done some hidden journaling for that page? Keep on gal, the weather will break very soon.

Hi BJ I really hope you do find the right solution to your shoulder, it's not a nice pain to have to put up with, my MIL suffers after a nasty break and can only lift her arm slightly due to this they offered her a replacement but said the op only had a 50/50 success rate, i'd ask lots of questions and find out your best option it's what the docs are there for.
Lovely stash from the works, I always forget they have an online shop, not that I need anything right now and it's just too hot to think about crafting.
Stay safe & keep cool Tracey #3

So sorry to hear about your health issues, BJ. It all sounds thoroughly miserable for you and I hope you get good advice and proper help in making the right decision about whether to go for surgery or not. This heat is really awful and certainly can't be helping you! I am happy to say I am over all my "female" problems now, having had a hysterectomy 25 yrs ago and then a pretty normal menopause (still have my ovaries) with loads of hot flushes and I used to go around in a strappy top in February lol!! It was like Mt St Helens going off every 20 mins. I'm glad you've got some fun things to play with from the Works.

Happy WOYWW,
