Needless to say I haven't been up to much other than the embroidery.
I have joined another length of backing material and keep it all rolled up and safety pinned whilst working on it.I have been giving a go at the lesser known stitches in my little "vintage" book, plus some I have found on-line. I have fallen in love with the lazy daisy with the integral french knot - how cool is that! (blue arrow)
There's also the long french knot (2 to left of above) Certainly easier than the knotted buttonhole/blanket stitch over on the right.
The bluey green thread is a line of different buttonhole stitches. Particularly like the Up and Down buttonhole stitch. So my embroidery is now 1 metre 20cm and I have no idea when I will stop.I added some Broidery Anglais edging where the backing material became too narrow before I joined the next one, really enjoying doing as I please with this project.
Here's what I have done since last week. And if I hadn't had enough of embroidery I did make a green heart for my denim book like the one I showed a few weeks ago which I gave to my friend.I did do a quick watercolour butterfly Remembering my Dad last Thursday. Saw it on a FB reel and just had to have a go. It was a bit of mindless doing which served its purpose well.Happy WOYWW Everyone.

Dashing around quick before the heat builds...
I think your embroidery is simply gorgeous. And I agree. Something mostly portable that you cab take to a cool spot to work on is what we in the heat zone need. Either that or a bathtub full of water and icecubes LOL! Also love your neurographic butterfly. A lovely tribute.
Happy far, FAR too hot WOYWW

That little vintage book is a beauty and so helpful in finding the right stitch for your project, it’s really interesting to see it develop! Loved the butterfly tribute to your dad, it would my Dad’s 104th birthday today, so I’m thinking of him xx

Seeing the book made me smile as I have one of those somewhere. It definitely is old as I must have had it when I was still at school, very useful too. I am well impressed with this. Love the butterfly too and the colours work so well together. Wishing you a very happy and cool woyww (hopefully) hugs Angela x8x
Hello BJ, I'm sending sympathy vibes for the heat making sleep so difficult. I'm lucky though, because my flat is cooler than most and my craft room is tolerable. I've said it before but I'll say it again, I love your embroidery and that book is fabulous. Beautiful butterfly too. Here's to a drop in temperature soon. Hugs, Elizabeth xx #10
Hi BJ, your living line embroidery has really inspired me this week, thank you. When I’ve finished my parliament of owls, I’ll start one. Your technique is impressive and I’ve ordered a book on stitches.
Your butterfly for your father is beautiful.
On the topic of getting to sleep in this heat, I take a damp flannel to bed and dampen my skin with it. The evaporation helps me to get to sleep.
Stay cool and happy WOYWW

Your embroidery is gorgeous…you have so much patience. Hoping the weather cools soon…I think we are all suffering.

That embroidery sampler is truly a work of art and love. It would make a lovely runner on a table, and I'm sure if you give it to a family member or friend, they'll treasure it forever. Stay safe, and happy WOYWW!
Your embroidery is wonderful and I like the butterfly too. The heat is exhausting, I have spent most of the day in the small amount of shade by the caravan. I have a spray that gives out a cloud of mist. I have been using it on the dogs and myself. I have also had my feet in a bowl of water, which was lovely. Keep as cool as you can, hugs Angela
wow the embroidery is amazing, fair play. love the idea of your denim book too, I patch my jeans and suddenly thought I could do a pretty patch rather than just denim sewn on denim. Hope your coping in this next heat wave ok. Kyla
Your embroidery is stunning BJ. Hope you are surviving the heat somehow. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah
