About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (usually about 6 months behind), plus any cards as required. I have a new found love of Watercolour and Bible Journaling plus recently Faith/Art Journaling too. I've challenged myself to make an art journal page a day for this my 60th year. Previously I've also dabbled in ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery amongst other things. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing. I also like walking/Geocaching and sometimes do a bit of Bouncing on my Rebounder (mini trampoline). I have been learning to play the harp for the past 10yrs. I am now officially retired. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Vineyard Church.

WOYWW #572 - UFO Upholstery!

UFO stands for Unfinished Object and my dining chairs have been crying out to be recovered for a while now. I'd washed the fabric I was going to use weeks ago so I just needed the push to actually get on and do it and Julia's UFO challenge for the 11th Anniversary was just what I needed.

So I exchanged my craft and sewing boxes for my upholstery tool box and did some hammering!

I bought the set of 4 chairs from a secondhand shop back in 1992 and completely re-upholstered them in 1997 after attending upholstery classes.

I recovered them last in Jan 2007 I found out as I'd chalked that on the back of one. So they were in need of doing especially as a couple were thread bear in places.

So that's me - a bit of upholstery

Happy 11th WOYWW Anniversary Everyone.

That’s a great bit of UFO-ing, BJ! What a fantastic job you have done with the chairs. It’s so satisfying bringing new life to worn out old favourites, isn’t it. They will give good service for years to come now, I am sure.

Happy 11th anniversary WOYWW,

Happy 11th Anniversary WOYWW. Well done for getting your UFO completed. Sometimes I think that I could redo the seats on our old dining room chairs, as I hate the fabric (chosen by hubby's 1st wife!!). Then, I remember that I have never done any upholstery before and it would be a lot easier to just buy new chairs! Ali x #18

Hi BJ, thats a fab UFO project you completed. The chairs look amazing, and will last a good while now. It's sad so many people will just throw away something that just requires a bit of learning, and a bit of work to sort out.Stay safe, have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #12 X

Well done on the upholstery BJ, always good to recycle older things, they last far longer than this new stuff and look much better in my opinion. Happy 11th WoywW Anniversary wishes Tracey #10

Wow BJ, that’s a really good and useful job done, well done you! funny what can motivate you to do a waiting job. Must say the thought of some useful hammering isn’t a bad one!! The chairs look great and weren’t they a good buy, You’ve given them the longevity they deserve, for sure.

Ah brilliant BJ, I remember doing that for a dear friend in 1980s and used a wonderful floral rose, ŕeally spruced up your chairs too.
