About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (usually about 6 months behind), plus any cards as required. I have a new found love of Watercolour and Bible Journaling plus recently Faith/Art Journaling too. I've challenged myself to make an art journal page a day for this my 60th year. Previously I've also dabbled in ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery amongst other things. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing. I also like walking/Geocaching and sometimes do a bit of Bouncing on my Rebounder (mini trampoline). I have been learning to play the harp for the past 10yrs. I am now officially retired. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Vineyard Church.

WOYWW #798 - Struggling

Having a bit of a week....!

Here's my desk on Tuesday afternoon just before I packed it away to write my post...

I started a new Wednesday morning Church group last week and sat in the same place for over 2 hours!

Harp image from Fussy Cut Freebies and a printed scripture verse I'd had for ages about the harp.

Thursday I used a printable from Etched by Faith. I'd missed dancing last week so maybe I was yearning for it.

I was fine on Thursday in the day, however, the extended sitting on Wednesday probably lead to my back giving out after badminton! I hardly slept as a result....Oh my!

Friday I had a huge amount of issues with my back!

Then a different flare up, for which I'm still waiting for the GP to approve my repeat prescription request as I found my current tube of ointment is now out of date.

Friday's page reflects how I felt Friday.

Saturday I remembered Devotion in Action had a new water colour up, so I followed that.

My son and his friend returned from Japan early evening and stayed overnight Saturday which added to my anxiety.

He did bring me a Japanese news paper to use in my crafting and the coin is a 1 Yen.

I didn't go to church Sunday due to the visitors and was really sad after they left late morning.

The butterflies were a tutorial from Instagram.

Monday I had my annual appointment at the hospital which didn't go to plan, consequently I went into meltdown....

In the evening I followed a You Tube tutorial from Jenna Burne which was mainly black which was how I was feeling but surprisingly this was what I came up with.

The word refers to plants of the Umbellifer family. Only now, after looking it up, have I realised my flower heads do indeed resemble plants in this genre.

Yesterday I pretty much stayed in my room sleeping and crafting.

I journaled all my sadness all over my pages then sploshed some acrylic paint on top. Then the BLACK Distress ink came out.....

I've got the dentist tomorrow, really hoping that goes OK.

WOYWW #797 - FREE Conference

Here's my desk from the side near the window.

I have been busy prepping my purple folder for the Bible Journaling Ministries - Women Of the Word (WOW) Conference next month. There's a gazillion downloads/printables.

The colour combo this year is pinky purple so I'm stoked! My favourite.

Anyway the Conference is all on-line from 16th-18th October - 4pm till gone midnight daily and all presentations are free for 24 hours after they are published. There are 27 guest presentations in all.

I did my ticket page in my Faith Journal. The ticket is available from the Pop-up Facebook group which is just there for the conference time.

I carried on the colour theme in my daily journal focusing on Mary's Song from Luke 1:45.

I went to the prayer week of a local church and made my daily page using various items I brought back from there.

I've been trying out various Dark Chocolate with higher concentrations of Cacao so I did a page using the wrapper from the Asda "Extra Special Ugandan" 85% one.

Whilst doing my folder for this year's conference I realised I had loads of printables left over from previous conferences so I've decided to use them in my daily journal.

There is Wisdom from Proverbs 3:13

Then Truth from Ephesians 6:16 and John 17:17.

The Prayer Week was based on The Armour of God also the church service on Sunday introduced this topic

(It was the focus of the Conference last year too) So I used some pieces from last years conference.

I did a colouring page from Sunday's talk which enforced the message some more and I'll endeavour to remember the 6 items:-

1) Belt of Truth

2) Breastplate of Righteousness

3) Shoes of the Gospel of Peace

4) Shield of Faith

5) Helmet of salvation

6) Sword of the Spirit

Waymaker from Isaiah 43:19 is a lovely worship song.

And finally yesterday's page about being set free - Psalms 107:14

I think this was one of the bonus kits from last year.

There really is so much on the FREE pass.

WOYWW #796 - Hello September

Here's my desk last night when I had "half" tidied up after doing my daily journal page.

I made a little 5 signature journal for September using one of my favourite magazine covers for the cover. I'm planning to get back into Faith/Bible Journaling for this month.

I used papers from a little notebook I got at the Scout Book sale and watched a YouTube video to see how multiple signatures were sewn.

It was a bit wonky so I sewed the cover on anyways...

Here are my first 3 pages.

Pink as I just wanted to do pink after all the steampunk last month!

I did this page during church's on-line prayer meeting. The word revival came to me just before our pastor quoted a song about revival so it was pretty poignant for me.

Yesterday's page is very Casey Turner-esque. I love her style and it just flowed out of me.

The psalm was from the prayer meeting the previous day as it hadn't gone with that page so I had just written it out on this page.

Our last week of witnesses in the Bible was on Joseph in the Old Testament. Great to have lots of space to fit the larger size in.

September's Faith Inspirations and Bible Journaling Ministries pages.

Proverbs 27:17 - Iron sharpens iron

and

the book of Esther

And the end of my Steampunk journal for August.

A tag with more images from I Love Paper Digital & AI

The last 2 pages with images from Fussy Cuts Freebies. I went to town with the last page using the image as a jumping off point and trying my best to copy it with acrylic paint.

I hadn't really realised these freebie images are mainly AI, only something I became aware of when showing my son my journal and him exclaiming AI, AI, AI... Hmmmm!

Hence the return to my own creations this month.

WOYWW #795 - Scrapping too

Here's my desk a tad untidy, shock horror!

I had a dying session in the week and the cards of ribbons and rags are hanging below my bottom shelf. Love the bright colours from Dylusions inks.

I finished sewing the ribbons to the rings for church, to be used by the children during worship. I worked with what I had and made rainbows with the colours.

My Bible Journaling watercolour page for this week was of John, the disciple that Jesus loved. It's week 8 of the witness series by Devotion in action

I've done a few scrappages this week.

Firstly a double page of our trip to Ikea and the building of the new bed for our son's room/spare room.

Secondly various Christmas preparations.

Thirdly the funeral of our nextdoor neighbour. She'd been our neighbour since we moved in over 24 years ago and had lived there since the seventies. Sadly missed.

Then to the journal

Day 21) a page with 4 tag slots on the right side.

All the images are from the Nahum 1:4 kit from Bible Journaling Ministries

The 4 tags, days 22-25

The rest of the steampunk Nahum 1:4 images on the front of the tags...

...and various things which took my fancy on the back .

Day 26) an attempt at the last (week 4) of Seek Gather Create - not my best moment.

Items to include were A window, the colour green, something blurry and a repeating pattern.

Day 27) Another fabulous image from Fussy Cuts Freebies

I was much happier with this page despite doing it quickly before dancing last night. I had prepped the image with a coat of glue the day before though but it hadn't worked with the page then.

Just 4 more days with this month's journal and wondering what to do for next month now???? Any Suggestions Welcomed.

WOYWW #794 - Off-Piste

Desk is as usual tidy so I went with the wide shot for a change.

My mini Bible is just about visible bottom right with this weeks watercolour from Devotion in Action

It's of Timothy, an impressive young man who trained under Paul and was left in charge of the church in Ephesus.

Scrapping 1st page in 20th Album.

A bit of self indulgence to start my new album.

And the August "steampunk" Journal has had a couple more off-piste moments, but first...

4 pages of Fussy Cuts Freebies images.

Couldn't choose which girl to use so used both.

The basic steampunk items here.

Only noticed the number of fingers when gluing the glove down!

The pocket tag uses an image from the Gecko Gals bonus sheet in response to their monthly newsletter email.

The only nod to steampunk here is the last of my cog brads!

On the other side is an image from I love Paper Digital & AI and some of my Temu mushroom dies. Again some cog stamps with the grunge image.

The word and hand stamps were already on the tag when I started.

Here I go completely off-piste for week 3 of the Seek Gather Create challenge, although there are cog diecuts as part of the collage under the paint.

Items to use were:-
1) Bubbles - 3 vellum diecuts and white circles
2) Ruffles - lace edging
3) An Eye - from a magazine
4) Colour: Fuscia - paint and ink

And yesterday in response to the MultiMediaMonday prompt of Large Numbers over on Express Your Artsy Soul facebook group

Stencilled and stamped some cogs.

Think that is me for the week, really need to get a wiggle on with the scrapping again... Ho Hum.

WOYWW #793 - Full Steam Ahead...

Here's my desk with the next 4 journal days prep.

My little steampunk art journal is coming along nicely although a tad "off-piste" in places.

I am including images I love so I guess it is more of an "image" month, truth be told.

I've discovered adding a light layer of my current craft glue on top of the images enhances them so I have revisited all previous pages doing so. It seems to be more matt than gloss which is good too.

Also on my desk is my new scrapbook having added 20 pages to the 10 included to make the 30 I usually have in my 12"x12" albums. It is Album #20 of my day to day albums.

Here is the last page of #19, got round to it at last, Yippee.

I did my Bible watercolour in my original bigger Bible this week as it was OT.

It is all about Othniel who was the first major judge for the Israelites and there was peace for 40yrs.

So to the journal pages.

Day 7) is my entry to the current (August) Steampunk Challenge over on the Gecko Galz Blog.

Day 8) Images from the Nahum 1:7 kit from Bible Journaling Ministries

Days 9 & 10 are on the tag in the pocket of page 8.

Day 9) At last a tag to do the Gecko Galz tag Challenge. The clock stamp was already there so I worked around it. I guess she's not entirely steampunk!

Day 10) Ah Fussy Cuts Freebies posted a set of steampunk images for me and this is the first I've used. Did print them a tad too big but going with it...

So to days 11 & 12 which are quite "off-piste" to say the least.

Day 11) this for week 2 of  SeekGatherCreate over on Instagram. Fortunately Casey is keeping me up to date as I find Instagram quite confusing.

Day 12) is using an image from a previous Gecko Galz challenge month on their blog. I am getting the feel that images are available for a month to down load then replaced. However on their challenge FB group there is a "Bejewelled" section so I entered this one there.

I wasn't planning on all these challenges but is makes life interesting.
