WOYWW #789 - Journaling : Bible, Faith, Art and Junk...

Ah yes lots of different journaling this week as I've been catching up on the monthly things I hadn't got around to till this week.

There's a pile of old books from a jumble sale for the journaling. I also got some embroidered napkins, a twine set, sun charms, necklace and a china mask which I couldn't resist.

But first up is Sunday's talk about prayer and the Lord's Prayer in particular from Luke 11. Our pastor gave us his version and each part of the prayer was associated with a colour, hence the bead chain.

We were given Prayer Journals and booklets plus there were colouring pages but I think the beads went down the best.

I've started a new series over at Devotion in Action about God's witnesses, which are all faces and that's a challenge for me. They are traced into my Bible from printables and I paint them.

Probably why I forgot to share last week's Ethiopian Eunuch, but this week's Abram is a bit better methinks.

I did Bible Journaling Ministries monthly free mini kit page for July about Keeping the Faith Fire Burning.

I stuck to warm colours to compliment the previous Faith Inspirations (FI) page done with their free Challenge Card focusing on textures and Psalm 21:21.

The girl image used on the FI page is from the new facebook group Fussy Cut Freebies which has a wealth of free images to use.

#JunkJournalJuly. I have finished one side of my no-sew (concertina) journal, loving how the pages flow together so tried to get a shot of it all - not easy...

New pages are:-

Day 10 & 11 - threads and stamps.

So pleased to be able to sew again, really ought to get some sewn clusters done whilst the going's good and I have no idea how long this steroid injection will work for.

Day 12 & 13 - packaging and light

I used some lip balm packaging as the tag, tissue to cover the envelope. A a strepsils blister pack for the large circle stamping and bubble wrap for the smaller.

The word SUN was already on the right side so added the theme word of light. The sun charm and bead string were from the jumble finds.

Day 14 & 15 - weather and handmade.

These day's videos weren't really working for me, so I used a rainbow stencil and with a few rain drops and clouds for weather. The butterflies were added extras and now thinking one would look good on the right hand page too... (done!). 

Busy day yesterday so used one of the #JJJ freebie pictures and some NEW handmade water colour leaves which I did this week on scrap water colour paper. 

Yes another thing I am able to do without major pain  and/or numbness is "Fussy Cutting" whoop whoop.

Anyway here's the mask I couldn't resist, it's about 4 and a half inches high, wondering why I was drawn to it so much??

WOYWW #788 - Even More Journaling

Remembered what day it is this week - shock horror! Still losing plot these days though.

Here's the old desk - had more fun with the use up the paint sheet than the actual journaling - LOL.

This weeks pages have either been very simple or totally tiresome.

Day 03 - Fold

Made the butterfly folded pop-up which was fun. Used up some old magazine butterflies too.

Day 04 - Labels - lots of old saved ones

Day 05 - Lettering - what it says on the tin

Day 06 - Wildlife - Aaarrhhh!!! Loads of reiterations but ended up with gesso coffee and hand drawn leaves like Helen's stamps.

Day 07 - Window - Ring already on the page, with magazine picture. Added some paint and made the flowers like Cindy's on my ATC this year.

Day 08 - Observe - kinda followed the video ish... Saw the binoculars in my stash the other day and thought they would work.

Day 09 - Scraps - not got around to it at time of writing my blog....

EDIT did it quickly before bed last night

Oh and finally a page to finish off my June journal. WAIT seemed to be the word which the Spirit was offering me. A word seen on Facebook, the talk at church (old church for friend's marriage blessing), talk on you tube from Transformation Church in America.

I'm holding on to that.

WOYWW #787 - Such a Relief

Well the desk is the usual craft tidy state but also a dumping ground.

Recently back from Asda shopping, so there's my list and receipt (back to school stationary is due in Friday btw). 

My Medical Journal so I can record stuff. After a few days of horrid wrist pain following the steroid injection for the Carpal Tunnel, I can report that the numbness/severe tingling has reduced to very mild tingling with the odd electric shock in my thumb. But I am sleeping better and can do stuff again, like play my harp. Whoop Whoop.

Yesterday was hubby's 68th birthday and I actually made the card in time, which was interesting with a very sore wrist!

We went geocaching and got 16 caches to complete a new circuit near us. 

 

I completed the June journal, here are the last 5 pages of that.

Think this one shows the wrist pain perfectly. Totally reminded me of when I had the surgery on the other hand in 2021, relieved it was only 3-4 days of that as opposed to weeks....

I'd been having some issues with a church group and a close friend helped me leave it "gracefully".... and breathe.

The last page is a bit of a mish-mash just grabbed images and words which spoke to me. Compass dial - new direction maybe. Tulips are for perfect and deep love apparently. The little hexagonal summer house, sanctuary, safety perhaps. The words just are what they are I suppose.

So to July's Journal, a flip-through of it empty is here. 

Only having done 2 pages so far I am finding the base journal is doing a lot of the work which is giving me more time - I guess.

So I am following #JunkJournalJuly2024  where there is a prompt/video each day, published at 4pm. I'm kinda watching and doing my own thing ish.

Day 1 : Spark - someone gave the little match book, hoping it was someone here who will recognise it, great to use it somewhere special.

Day 2 : Post Card - Technique of card piercing and used some on my plasterers mesh tape. Chris and I walked through poppy fields yesterday so it means a lot to me.

As they are concertina pages I'm sort of trying to make them flow into each other, we'll see how that goes through the month...But definitely loving this new type of journal.

Can't believe it is way past lunch time before I get this posted - oh my life...

WOYWW #786 : No-Sew Journal

Hottest day of the year so far and I'm hunkered down in my room, windows and curtains closed and the air-con unit on all day - that's better....I did sit out for the sum total of 2 minutes but couldn't stand it any longer! 

 #JunkJournalJuly (JJJ) is on the cards for me next month and finally managed to sign-up but had to get hubby to turn off the ad blocker and then list Get Messy as OK as that was the problem up to now!

Funny thing - I know July is looming and I didn't have a journal planned but happened to make a no-sew journal yesterday (by the JJJ host) which is the feature on my desk. 

All ready for July except that I haven't made my hubby his birthday card for 2nd yet! Eeeeek!

Have been plodding away at my June Journal too, Some pages come together, some not quite so. 

Listed them all separately this week instead of collages.

Not much to say about them just lots of play and pondering.

I found the Greater Spotted Woodpecker feather in the garden the other day and a mixed media prompt was Polka Dots so it was perfect.

Running out of self inspiration so JJJ will be well welcome next week.

WOYWW #785 - Remembering my Dad

Always a difficult week, the one with Father's Day and the anniversary of my own Dad's passing. My Carpal Tunnel Symptoms have gone haywire, not sure if it's the increased temperature or the stress of the moment.

Anyway, finished up the Wild Art Deep Faith course in my daily journal and have toddled along the past few days. Here's yesterdays desk doing yesterday's page.

18) Sadness and Sunshine - 26 years ago today I lost my Dad suddenly. Tears but happy memories.

I did kids work at church in Sunday and we made these for the Dad's so I made one for my hubby, the guys got Yorkie bars too.

I do believe there is #JunkJournalJuly on the horizon but not found how to sign up for it yet despite this video on you tube, I did enquire via their chat but they couldn't really help me.

WOYWW #784 - Acrylic Inks

At last I am the proud owner of some acrylic inks. Had a little play and they are still out on my desk for more fun.

I've been filling the extra facing pages in my April journal with challenge pages.

I did one using circle waste pieces/rings and another was a scavenger hunt to include 12 specific things, that was fun.

I'm toddling along with Jenna Burne's Wild Art Deep Faith course filling my June journal. This past week I've done:-

In the middle of this I made an anniversary ATC for  Lisa-Jane, not sure it has arrived yet though but here it is anyways.

WOYWW #783 - Wild Art Deep Faith

Started the "Wild Art, Deep Faith" course by Jenna Burne so that's what you find on my desk (yesterday) I'm a little at odds with just playing with supplies and techniques versus wanting to get a page finished each day but I'm managing it.

Here are my first 4 days:

1) Was to Wreck your Journal but I found this quite difficult!

2) Was actual journaling, which is underneath the finished page.

3) Acrylic paints - who'd have known Dark Turquoise and Lavender mixed would be Key West Blue!

4) Watercolour and Inks (I only have Dylusions inks and they are watercolour not acrylic)

The last 2 days have brought worship songs to mind - nothing was planned.

As for the Journal, I made a new one for June in the tall slim format to fit in a magazine cover I'd been saving.

I've done my Bible Journaling Ministries Page in my Faith Journal and my mini bible.

I also WON a month of their subscription membership Momentum. Wow I was over the moon with that.

 I did my Faith Inspirations page (one colour was Key West Blue and I only discovered how to mix it the day AFTER!!! - see above).

I redid my little canvas and it might be done now.

Of course I finished off my May journal and Messy May all done. Really enjoyed the prompts and videos.

I got to do a page with all my favourite bits and pieces, had an evening of gelli printing to make a page, used up a stitched cluster from the BB Bash course earlier in the year and used a scrap/scratch sheet and a hand made mask for the last page.

I received my last few ATCs and they are all now rearranged on my fireplace, with a few oldies.

I love them all thank you so much.
