My desk with all my Fodder Challenge pieces except the mobile which is in our conservatory.
My Bible is open on my desk pending the last chapter of 1 Timothy but I forgot to show last weeks so here's chapter 5.
Day #12 - Fodder Mobiles by Susanne Randers - the final project.
We needed a stick to hang our fodder from and any trinkets we wanted to use, plus yarn, beads and feathers. I foraged in the house and came up with a whittled stick made by my son when he was a kid so I sawed a piece off that. The yarn was from a knitted cardigan. I liked the bumpy texture although it wasn't the colour I intended for this but I went with the flow.
I found beads in the kids threading bead box (most of mine were too fine for the project). Various metal Euphemia including Tim Holtz trinkets, even an old "Victorian" hair clip (no idea how I came by that one!).Also a metal token found on the floor at church the week before last that no one seemed to want, and some old shank buttons in threes.
We were shown the tiered circles so I stuck to the same colour way for those. Did all this on the Friday evening then tried to sleep.......
I made it up on the Saturday morning, which went into Saturday afternoon and before long I realised it was nearly 3pm and I hadn't eaten anything!
Love my mobile which has pride of place in the conservatory.I then realised I hadn't done the feather as an end piece nor actually watched the end videos of this project so I watched the rest of the project videos and made a little beaded feather which I have put on my curtain next to my craft table. What a super end to a brilliant 12 day challenge
I water coloured the front of my base tag and little tags.
On reflection I ought to have coloured the backs of the little tags too, but I toned down the white with some distress ink afterwards.
Stumped at first as I didn't have any fabric pages for use in the printer nor any freezer paper to attach to fabric for the printer. In fact didn't wish to put anything unusual through our ageing printer!!!
So eventually remembered the PVA glue transfer method and tried that with some of my printable images.I used some old embroidered napkins as the base white fabric.
I had fun trying out some embroidery stitches on my sewing machine.
I added a few beads and trinkets to my test pieces which I suppose are now fodder for other projects...So when I eventually worked out what to do with my resources I really enjoyed this little project. Thanks to Sylvia last week I joined the Fodder Challenge and have been a busy bunny ever since.
My desk is now adorned with 7 tags of the challenges, a tag mini book and some painted fabric ribbons.
I have just blogged each day in case you want to have a closer look :-
Days #1 & #2 - Water Colour Tropical Leaves & Collage Notebook Covers (right box and behind)Days #3 & #4 - Floating Quote Quartet & "Woven" Fodder Papers (2nd from left and behind & round tub)
Days #5 & #6 - Mixed Media Tokens & Gelli Printed Fabric Ribbons (right tag and baggy infront and left little box)Day #7 - Gratitude Medals (behind round tub and left baggy)
Day #8 - Mini Tag Book (front centre)
Day #9 - Mini Collage (left tag)
And I managed to spray myself PINK too.
Yep what a week!
Happy WOYWW Everyone.
Turquoise and Lemon appealed to me so I got going and had a little tag done in no time. Managed to doodle on this one today too.
I used the size tags I had (got the die for this one - so useful) bit smaller than shown in the video but worked for me.
I re-vamped my pizza box spray booth as it was a bit wonky.I sprayed the tags using my spray inks.
Some were a bit clogged so I soaked the nozzles. The pink was the last to be set free and it did it in style all over my face chest and leg, not to mention my clothes. Think I got it out of my top but have left on my multicoloured skirt!Used up a lot of my Day #1 elements and more I've made since too.
There was space for 3 tags too and I used some of my painted ribbons on them.
I had some silhouette diecuts given to me years ago, for such a time as this.Need to add doodles and stuff but nearly there.
Absolutely loved this challenge.
I used my trusty Cuttlebug for the shapes and some Tim Holtz ChitChat for the words.
I even cracked open the spray booth for drying my papers. Go me.Back to making a tag and used some of my painted ribbon from the day before
I dyed my hair in the morning so used the dye box on my tag.
Day 6 Gelli Printed Fabric Ribbons by Yetunde RodrigezNearly admitted defeat with this one as I don't have a Gelli Plate, but someone else just painted theirs so I did that in the end, really late too.
Didn't make a tag with this one.All caught up so one challenge a day from now on.
I dug out my texture paste which was still OK just needed a bit of mixing and even foraged in the garden for the poppy pod. Absolutely loved this challenge.
Day #4 "Woven" Fodder Papers by Sarah Gardner wasn't as much up my street but I did a little and made a tag and covered my pen pot (Johnsons cotton bud tub). Used some left overs on day #7 too.And Day #1's mushroom came in handy.
Having a whale of a time.
Super challenge, I've since branched out into other leaf shapes, toadstools/mushrooms and circles.
I made a couple of cards too.Day #2 - Collaged Notebook Covers by Barb Smucker
I did a tag in the technique. Never wet papers before glueing before. Tried on home printed papers but not so good there. Then I covered my big trinket matchbox.Great start to this 12 day long challenge.Other than that, the day to day bifocals are on the desk and the next set of photos at the ready plus tablet on its stand.
Hmmm, so what have I managed this week? Well I did both my June and July pages in my journal. Both from freebie mini kit printables from Bible Journaling Ministries (only free for their specific month btw).
The July one was inspired by an affiliate video by Amanda at Devotion in Action. How could I resist, but I made myself do the June one first as I had already downloaded the mini kit but hadn't been inspired by it initially.
Then I did my latest #scripture52 card. Used some pretty girl elements I found in my stash, no idea where they came from! The theme for the month is Integrity so it seemed fitting along with my new church die (this was the test one). This weeks water colour was about spiritual training and covered the whole page on the back on my tip-in. Think I'll be glad to get back to painting on my actual Bible pages again for chapter 5.And finally some craft from church, I brought the colouring sheet home and painted it.
