About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (usually about 6 months behind), plus any cards as required. I have a new found love of Watercolour and Bible Journaling plus recently Faith/Art Journaling too. I've challenged myself to make an art journal page a day for this my 60th year. Previously I've also dabbled in ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery amongst other things. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing. I also like walking/Geocaching and sometimes do a bit of Bouncing on my Rebounder (mini trampoline). I have been learning to play the harp for the past 10yrs. I am now officially retired. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Vineyard Church.

WOYWW #656 - All Quiet Here.

No crafting here but I do have this beauty on the go.

My son knows just what I like.

He also made us an origami Polar Bear instead of a card this year.

I got hold of some essentials, didn't realise that Stix2 made refills for the ATG, that is worth knowing and easily obtainable direct from them - on-line of course.

Deep into the Hebrew with my new books and Duolingo of course with a splash of Welsh to keep my points up.

Oh and the poinsettia didn't last well... thought it was funny but I did get some Christmas flowers to take the spot...phew!

WOYWW#655 - Happy Christmas Everyone

Desk as usual so no point showing you all!

Doing my Husband's Summer Birthday page on my Son's Winter birthday is one thing, but the next lot of photos were of his friend's funeral.

Needless to say scrapping in floods of tears isn't very easy at all.

Owen used to pop round on my son's birthday and even in Covid times they had chatted through the window. But not this year, so sad.

My Welsh Duolingo keeps asking me to translate, "Goodbye Owen", so there we have it "Hwyl Owen"

Son did the Covid, sideways gentle blow out of the candles, even if it is just the 3 of us.

Hope you all have a lovely Christmas.

WOYWW#654 - Cards, Angels and Duolingo!

Oops a bit late for the party today. Got into Duolingo and maybe becoming addicted!

Doing Hebrew, Welsh and French - the latter 2 to help get my XP (experience counter) up and so I can advance leagues each week. Also to win back hearts as the Hebrew is so taxing!

Anyway desk is as normal TIDY

(oh say that with a Welsh accent won't you!)

So here's what I've been up to this week.

A congratulations card for my son on his new job, and his birthday one for next week.

A thank you card for my hand therapist who I see probably for the last time tomorrow so I've made her a white angel too.

Lots more upcycled Christmas cards mostly from last years ones.

Two hybrid angels as I ran out of white yarn so finished off with gold and then used the final gold yarn sewn into a purple angel for the tree.

Oh and finally, by chance an Amazon present came from Israel of all places so I'm loving the box considering I'm learning Hebrew. Who said kids only preferred the boxes??? שביר shavir - fragile!

WOYWW#653 - Sewing & Cards

OK I little confession, I had done some crafting last week but it was AFTER I'd scheduled my post and in the wee hours. So much so I'd forgotten and thought the elves had been at my desk when I saw it in the morning!

Anyway, today a busy desk (well just before I cleared up to write this). I finally recovered my ear muffs. Honestly the old black ones were well over 25yrs old, so now I have purple ones with blue inside on the black frame. My ears really hate the cold so about time.

I also took in some new joggers I'd bought. Really hate it when my size is the one in between the 2 size band they use. Really useful that the elastic was only sewn on the seam, taken about 2" out and run down the back seam accordingly. My hips have always outstripped my waist - hmmm. Sorted

So to last week. Cards for Angels, Angel journal page, 20 Upcycled Chrimbo cards made and 2 ATCs. I used all stuff re-found in my Christmas file.

Upcycled as I used old cards from which I die cut sections, a picture from a calendar, and even some tissue box penguins which had caught my eye some years ago. I also found some Christmas papers. All done and posted.

Oh and the icing on the cake my son had an interview today and was offered the job within hours. He'll be moving to Cambridge in the new year now, sob sob, he needs to find a house yet...Oh my all go - literally.

WOYWW#652 - Advent

Advent began last Sunday so we went and got our real tree for this year. I like to get the most out of ours so I won't be taking it down till Candlemas (2nd February) all being well. It's in a cold conservatory so it usually lasts. We can see it from the lounge and the kitchen.

Needless to say little crafting yet again I'm afraid. Even my wrist exercises and scar massaging has taken a dive.

I have started learning Hebrew via Duolingo loving that but aware it isn't quite the same as Biblical Hebrew.

I took on board those that liked the gold crocheted angel I made so I persevered with a few more.

I have 3 on the mantle and one on the real tree. I went with Purple and Gold for my big real tree this year.

I have a little faux tree in the hall and I have hung a white angel on there as I went with white on there this year.

There's a pile of the white angels on my desk ready to pop in the cards I haven't made yet - LOL.

Oh well at least the house is decorated.

WOYWW#651 - Heavenly Host

Not much has changed from last week other than the paperclipped pages of my Hebrew have moved into an A4 File as they were getting out of control. I've very nearly mastered the Hebrew consonant Aleph-Bet and decided not to move on until I'm more proficient at that.

Hand/wrist, plus arm exercises continue. My Hand Therapist is happy that I'm progressing but I'm not to try badminton for at least another 4 weeks, as my wrist continues to hold me back with it's unusual presentation post-op.

Saying that, I've raked the garden leaves, cleaned some windows, vacuumed the house, put the bins out, trimmed my orchids, used my sewing machine, ironed a few things, driven to church and made dinner so realistically I am nearly back to normal. Wrist is sore still and I've had some sharp pains in my thumb but all in all not bad at all.

So to the ANGELS.

I think the crochet is jolly good gently exercise for my wrist and goes some way to stop me munching whilst watching TV of an evening! I've now done 10 Angels and they have been gathering around the fireplace (except the blue one which my son has).

I have done a gold one but the yarn is difficult and I prefer the white ones. Not sure how many more I'll get out of the single ball of fine white yarn I have. I did have a look at my stash but not any more to be found as yet. I have white DK yarn but I guess they would turn out slightly bigger. Hmmm???

Maybe I'll do some scrapping next week, maybe not. But either way I need to order some more photos as I'm near the end of the last batch.

Happy WOYWW Everyone.

WOYWW#650 - Biblical Hebrew & Angels

Oh my, this week has taken a bit of a turn....not quite sure what happened, but I have dug deep into learning Biblical Hebrew!

It's been mulling in the background for some years and I was led to a study plan on the YouVersion Bible App called Three Words From The Creation - Biblical Hebrew and Your Life.

It contained a web link (which didn't work btw) but this inspired me to look some more and there is a wealth of stuff on YouTube and the Web so I got stuck in.

I posted this on Facebook last Thursday so that's when this all got started.

NOTE:-  I have also been following the angel crochet pattern Jan kindly shared last week too. If I even get around to making any Christmas cards thought I might pop one in.

Made a blue one for my son on request, and another 2 white ones since my first too.

My main reason for trying them in the first place was to test out my right hand to see if the Carpal Tunnel Surgery has worked, and pleased to say it passed the test no problem.

My left hand only went a bit tingly on one angel, but left hand only does the "holding" rather than the "doing" so that was OK. Not sure at this stage whether I'd ever have the left one done as well as I am still struggling with a few things.

My right hand is certainly NOT fully functional yet at 8 weeks. The scar on my palm is still very sore and tight and I cannot extend my wrist or thumb very well. My wrist continues to hurt mainly when handwriting which is a bind with the Hebrew Script. Seeing my Hand Therapist again on Thursday.

But I can CROCHET again - Yippee!!!

WOYWW#649 - One of those Moments.

Here's my desk earlier this week when everything just came together for a LO. I still managed 5 photos.

It was a moment when dies just jumped off the shelf begging to be used.

Then I did a simple page of 6 of hubby's landscapes.

He is much more interested in the photos than what I do with the page, so he just got titles!
Earlier still I did a couple of pages where the colours were based on the month word (MAY) I had just cut from an old calendar.

I got to showcase all the lower case "h's" I have from my 16 Alphabet sets in the hearing test page.

Finally a Garden in May page with 9 photos no less.

Then a tribute to a family friend's son who tragically died back in June at 21yrs. We live nextdoor to his Grandma and had known him since he was days old. He was 7 months younger than my son, so they grew up together. I met him first "over the wall" and last saw him when we all played badminton.  I'm still shedding tears for such a beautiful soul to leave us so soon.

"For Owen"

WOYWW#648 - November Dawns

Hi Guys, I think October was a bit of a wash out for me post operatively. Weeks 3 and 4 post-op were quite traumatic. If you want to see my wound progression over 5 weeks have a look at my post from last week HERE.

I have managed to get some crafting done since last week so here I am back to show you all.

First my desk with the last page from April 2021. Was getting a bit bored with my same old 4 photo layouts so Googled some sketches and one is on my desk.

My favourite one was this one though, worked out really well methinks.

Previous to that were, chair to bench upcycling and setting a few geocaches in the local woods.

And of course my pond planting and prodding.

Scar is really sore and hypersensitive so I made up a book of different fabrics to stroke it with. Desk is a Hand Gym as I'm seeing a Hand Therapist trying to get my movement back. I can sew again without my hand going numb though which is most definitely a plus.

Wrist is really sore today as I probably did a bit too much yesterday as I'm back to driving at last. Typing is difficult so I'll stop here.

Happy WOYWW Everyone.
