About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (currently a year behind!), plus any cards as required. As my Carpal Tunnel allows I am getting into yarn/fabric crafts with slow stitching and needle felting added to my list. I continue with my love of Watercolour and Bible Journaling plus Faith/Art Journaling with acrylics and inks. I completed my challenge to make an art journal page a day for my 60th year in 2024. My list of crafty exploits includes ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing. I also like Walking/Geocaching. I have been learning to play the harp for the past 10yrs. I am now officially retired. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Evangelical Church.

Gosh it has taken HOURS to write this post with all these photos. Blogger really isn't very helpful with photo placement as the part where you write isn't the same as the actual page and then it does its own thing much of the time.

All done now though, hope there are one or two which grab your eye.

WOYWW #434 - Empty Nester

Well it's not that bad after all. Think I prepared myself over the past 3 months with my son at home constantly. In fact we had both got to the point that we needed the break. Also I feel strongly that I am being held up in prayer and God is by my side.

Desk is a bit sparse still. Not had the time to get into crafting yet but did decorate my Bible Study notebook, and got some refill pages for my scrapbooks too.

Other than that there is the stock reply letter from my MP concerning the university fees hike.

A Duke of Edinburgh report I need to do for one of the lads at badminton.

My Chronological, read the Bible in a Year list.

Oh and my journal open to do a Empty Nester Page but I'm awaiting inspiration. If any of you could prompt me or send pictures or quotes that might do the trick.

Missed you all last week.
Happy WOYWW Everyone.

Get Your Sparkle On!

My family quiver when I say I'm going to a shoe shop.
Not that I'd come home with "more" shoes but rather, will I even be able to actually get any to fit me.

I have rather small but exceptionally wide feet, so shoe shopping can be quite depressing.

Worse still I was aiming to get dancing shoes for Ballroom and Latin! I went to a new shop for me, Fame of Surrey in Redhill.

Unbeknown to me my husband bought be some flowers just in case I came home depressed at having tried every shoe on in the shop but not finding any to fit!

I did try a lot of shoes on and most didn't fit at all but there was one pair with an adjustable front section and they fitted. OK so they are sparkly silver but I don't get to choose the shoe it has to choose/fit me first.

So doubly blessed, Shoes AND Flowers.

WOYWW #432 - Eleven More Sleeps

Yep just eleven more sleeps until my son goes to university!

Hoping the crafting will start up again then amid the tears!!

Meanwhile, sitting on my desk, I have the book for my new Ladies Bible study which starts on Friday.

Out on the landing are ever growing piles of stuff for my son.

Still waiting for the ultrasound for my foot but managed badminton last night all the same.

Still wearing vest tops and sleeping with the window open, these hormones may save on heating this year!

Happy WOYWW Everyone.

WOYWW #431 - Seahorse and Snowflakes

Too much Badminton and Ballroom Dancing has made my left foot sore! Had it X-Rayed yesterday and waiting on an Ultrasound Scan now. I have been resting it as much as possible so what better excuse to do some crafting over the weekend.

The last of my new diecuts have been languishing on my desk for a few weeks now so I pushed myself to journal with them. I had wanted a seahorse for some time and the snowflakes are the "remains" from the snowflake frame which came in my goodie bag - hence the unusual combination!

Love the quote I found, it is by Van Morrison from "Into The Mystic" 1970.

Smell the sea and feel the sky
Let your soul and spirit fly.

You never know I might make a Christmas card with the frame itself! Stranger things have happened.

Added "Birthday" to a card for my Godson too, wonders will never cease.

WOYWW #430 - Monkey Photos

OK so I wasn't going to post today as I haven't crafted BUT a geocaching friend posted a photo of himself and some monkeys "back in the day" and I remembered I had one of me likewise THEN I remembered I had a second one of me with a monkey AND a parrot. These will HAVE to be scrapbooked.

The first was taken in Brixham in May 1969 with the replica Golden Hind in the background. Apparently I was adamant I could hold the monkey and parrot on my own but my Mum thought otherwise! I was 5yrs old then.

The second was taken in Hamleys, London. Guess I was 7yrs by then in 1971, as my hair was now long and in a bun. The monkey was holding onto my hair!

So there we have it, a bit down memory lane asking for scrapbooking.

Just wondering if anyone else had similar photos taken, "back in the day"

Oh just remembered I DID get my inks out momentarily - I inked/stamped the paper for a geocaching trackable - the number for which I received as a gift for completing the Summer Pirate Challenge. And to think I have a photo of me with a parrot on my shoulder next to the Golden Hind - Ooohhh Arrrrhhh!

So full circle,

Geocaching Friend; Monkey Photos; Geocaching Pirate Trackable

WOYWW #429 - Blessings

Well the nearest I have got to crafting this past week is opening the pack of diecuts my friend gave me.

She is loving her "new" Cuttlebug which she acquired secondhand after chatting in a craft shop queue.

I had a great week last week with blessings falling from heaven left right and centre.

1) My son got A*AA for his A-levels and secured his place in Southampton University - NEXT MONTH! -

Oh dear empty nester syndrome approaching fast...........

2) In Geocahing got a First To Find (FTF) with my son - treasuring these last days with him at home.

3) Took my son driving on the Motorway for the first time.

4) Impromptu meeting-up with 2 old school friends last Saturday not seen them for 14yrs/40yrs!

5) Played 2 good evenings of Badminton, loads of exercise.

6) Volunteered at a Tea Dance, found a new dance school and went to a social last Friday and it was brill, so even more exercise.

7) Actually seem to be losing a bit of weight and have been sleeping marginally better too.

Not doing so well this week, in fact I think this week has been cancelled! It'll pass and if I feel any better I can of course do some crafting.

Did get this lovely SWAP card on our theme of Gingham though, that will help me smile this week.

Happy WOYWW Everyone.

WOYWW #428 - Journal & Cards

My desk this week.

Just remembered I got a new white pen last week and it is proving to work well. It is a Uni-ball Signo broad, pigment ink. Not had much luck with white pens in the past - we'll see.

So I did the journal page inspired by the diecuts from last week, in fact I did two!

I also made a card from the diecuts for a SWAP on the theme of Gingham.

I  also added the new "Happy Birthday" diecuts to two previously made cards for birthdays this month.

So I actually got a bit crafty and inky this past week in the end - horrah.

Happy WOYWW Everyone.

WOYWW #427 - Craftiness

Nothing like a Craft Shop Birthday Demo Day to get the ball rolling.

Met up with a couple of new crafty friends last Saturday and headed out to CraftsULove in Charlwood.

Bought some dies and got a goodie bag.

Then watched the demos and bought some more dies!!! Even got a die in the goodie bag.

Die Heaven!

So my desk is covered with the first cuts of said dies! I can feel a journal page coming on.....

I got a couple of 12x12 sheets in the goodie bag and would you believe one of mine had a fairy playing the harp on it - all my friends had a different sheet - so how cool was that, someone is watching over me.

Loved this demo card for Christmas so bought the tree die.

Then added its first cut onto my current scrapbook page (yes still on last Christmas).

The best thing of all was when we were in the very big queue for the checkout and my friend was getting dies despite not having a diecutting machine. We were chatting about this and the lady behind had one to spare and just happened to live near me so I went and got it later for £20 - bargin. What an amazing coincidence.

And for the record
I also placed and had published a new geocache in a local church and added pirate goodies for the Summer theme.

Add on top of that I wasn't well last Thursday evening and all day Friday, as well as the previous Monday. My hormones are really mixing it up these days, no idea what each day will bring but still hanging in there.

Happy WOYWW Everyone.

WOYWW #426 - Blue

Had the sewing machine out yesterday to fix a muslin which had become a bit holey.
Thought you'd prefer that shot than the empty one of today!

The delivery came as scheduled last week and it was in a HUGE box compared to the size of the item. My son and I just had to have a play!

Skylight all done now, it took a whole day for the boys to fix it.
Now that's better!

Last week I performed surgery on my third Corsa Doll, "Blue" to replace his batteries so now he says, "C'Mon" again. You can see he is a bit bigger than "Red" and "White" and doesn't have a hanger loop.

Still not got back into my scrapping, oh well one day.........

Happy WOYWW Everyone.
