About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (usually about 6 months behind), plus any cards as required. I have a new found love of Watercolour and Bible Journaling plus recently Faith/Art Journaling too. I've challenged myself to make an art journal page a day for this my 60th year. Previously I've also dabbled in ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery amongst other things. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing. I also like walking/Geocaching and sometimes do a bit of Bouncing on my Rebounder (mini trampoline). I have been learning to play the harp for the past 10yrs. I am now officially retired. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Vineyard Church.

WOYWW - #747 - Whoosh...

If my life were an airplane, 747 - Whoosh indeed.

BIG APOLOGIES for not getting round to everyone last week.....

Our son came for a visit including dentist check-up, me giving him a haircut, us playing badminton and then getting his car serviced/MOT so a full on time.

He also played Chess with his Dad and Backgammon with me. I did break out the Cribbage but he's not there yet!

We also rummaged in someone's hedge before 9am trying to find a cache which had disappeared.

So to the desk, it's got my latest #scripture52 card and Bible Journaling entries, plus my plan for a couple of Memory Bears by Annie - still need to launder the clothes I found in the loft....

Turn 180 degrees and there's my son's old easel with all the paintings which makes me happy clipped to it.

Was playing around with watercolour leaf shapes Monday. Think I much prefer watercolours.

I did do yet another mini workshop, this time multimedia! In which I made a series of 4 5"x 5" pieces on the colour green.

Before which I actually stuck down my January 2023 scrapbook pages.

How many photos can I get on 2 12x12 sheets?!? All but one of the photos for January had been for geoccaching (much happier out in the cold - LOL) so I lumped them all together.

The single photo of me doing my hanging baskets might have to be slipped in between the pages now.

Here's the back of my scripture card, I used up some of the green things I had left over from the workshop. I found a printable with a sheep too which ticked the box for this scripture.

And last but certainly not least the reason I was otherwise engaged last week.

PS My dental check-up found a cavity and I booked an appointment to have it filled (they didn't have a suitable one till the end of November). Well Sunday night I bit my tongue quite badly on the right and then Monday half the tooth on the left, which needs the filling, broke off in my mouth. It's all jagged and now my tongue is sore on the left too. Fortunately I managed to get a cancellation appointment for tomorrow, but I will probably need a crown, so that could take a few appointments. Ho Hum.

WOYWW #746 - Oh My Life!

I've been printing all the stuff off for the FREE Bible Journaling Conference 11th-13th October 2023.

One session had some "instructions" for an art journal made with an accordion spine and envelopes. Thought I'd have a go but came unstuck at the bit where it said,
"stick the envelopes to the spine AS PER DEMONSTRATION IN THE TALK".
Got into a right pickle, tried googling but couldn't find anything similar so I've prized it all apart and filed the bits for now! Hmmmm.

Was actually doing this ON TOP for my January scrapbook pages which are under the white 12x12 card. Total pickle.

Have done another painting in my Mini Bible, not a fan of people painting.

My scripture card this week featured some more "fodder" I made the other night out of previously painted scrap paper. Found the mini feather whilst out geocaching on Friday.

Had my gynaecology follow-up appointment at last. Had a different consultant this time as I'd raised some concerns about the previous one. The consultation couldn't have been more different, such a relief as I'd been quite stressed out about it all.

WOYWW #745 - Watercolour & Acrylic

So lots more painting...

Watercolours and Acrylics.

I did a freebie 3 day watercolour taster course which was fun, and I was totally engrossed in the process.

Loved the leaves but not too bothered by painting a panda really.

I did my own abstract on Saturday - such was the heat I did it in my bikini (maybe that's what was missing in the Joy sessions!).

Landscape and Botanicals seem to be my thing.

I saw a colour swatch page which I liked so I did one too.

Not totally happy with trying to mix my own colours so used "Seedless Preserves" Distress Paint and "Pale Olive" from a tube -  I know not from where it came!

I watched a few other Acrylic/Abstract videos from another teacher and did my own thing again using up the paint I had left over. Did Posca paint accents.

Think I might be getting somewhere...

My Vine got covered in "grapes" at church.

We each wrote a scripture or encouragement and stuck it on.

Later in the service we were encouraged to take a grape which appealed to us.

I did my Scripture52 - Week 36 card.

Love the acetate butterfly which I added stickles to.

I started another Bible Journaling series on 2 Timothy with Amanda @ Devotion in Action.

I needed to use my new mini bible as I didn't have enough room in my other one.

So full circle: watercolour, acrylic and back to watercolour. Maybe I ought to get back to my scrapping  now - LOL.

WOYWW #744 - Paint City

Paint City indeed, slightly expanded my crafty space with my son's easel extracted from the loft, set up behind me! Got all my new paints and stuff out on my desk too.

NOTE: Curtains closed against the heat and one of my fans on, I really can't cope with any heat above 20C.

Painting Taster Course "Find Your Joy". I was really excited before Lesson 1, but felt like a total damp squid afterwards, as I didn't like what I ended up with (A2 size). Certainly no Joy there.

Managed to cheer myself up the next day by following our very own Angela's masterboard instructions and doing something I actually liked (A3 size).

Lesson 2 stumped me for a subject but God had a plan....as I was asked to do a Vine for church next week, so I did that. 3 flip chart size sheets of paper, mixed my own green and brown in acrylics.

I played with the left over paint in true Fodder Challenge Style.

Seems I am taking something from these freebie courses, so that's a positive.

I tried the bonus activity of colour mixing, and really enjoyed that.

Tried to use up the paints as I made them and ended up with a splodge I didn't like, although the brush cleaning on scraps I did like. Oh my life.

Lesson 3 was to make an ugly painting, seems I excel in that and really enjoyed splodging the paint and making a mess.

Maybe I need to revisit this stage of childhood, don't ever remember painting in a mess as a child! Our son did, albeit only at home as he wouldn't get in a mess at preschool. Had school remark that he didn't like painting but I knew otherwise. Hmmm???

I have signed up for the FREE Bible Journaling Conference again this year. And I made a journal page with the ticket.

I also did the September journaling page.

And of course my last Scripture card for August.

Oh and that last scrapbook page of 2022. A bigger version of the mini one.
