About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (usually about 6 months behind), plus any cards as required. I have a new found love of Watercolour and Bible Journaling plus recently Faith/Art Journaling too. I've challenged myself to make an art journal page a day for this my 60th year. Previously I've also dabbled in ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery amongst other things. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing. I also like walking/Geocaching and sometimes do a bit of Bouncing on my Rebounder (mini trampoline). I have been learning to play the harp for the past 10yrs. I am now officially retired. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Vineyard Church.

WOYWW #743 - Hobbycraft

Hi everyone, I made it to Hobbycraft yesterday. Good job my car, despite being circa 2007, is ULEZ compliant as I ventured into Croydon! Eeeeekk! We live just on the border of various London Boroughs which will be quite difficult for some.

Anyway to the desk, with the pile of new stuff ready for the "Find Your Joy" Free online painting course I start tomorrow.

I have tasked myself to finish scrapping 2022 before the painting course, so there's a 12"/12" paper I am creating for my last page for 2022.

The other scrapbook pages for December include a Wintery walk and my nativity angel costume.

Son's birthday call to us and more walking - brrrrrr.

Boxing day at my son's in Cambridge where we met his girlfriend, shame they have since split up, she is lovely.

I have just framed one of my son's graduation photos with a bit of scrapping as the photo is phone shape!

And last but not least my scripture card.

Got my peg stamps out and used some gifted diecuts too.

Happy WOYWW Everyone.

WOYWW #742 - Discombobulated

Feeling a bit discombobulated this week. Not been sitting at my desk that much so little crafting but at the same time little SAD light time so who knows. Main reason for avoiding room is the heat of the day again! I just don't function well in the heat at all.

Desk does feature a new little basket for my paints and pens and yes I did splash out for the standard colours of the Posca Pens!

I scrapped a couple more pages last Friday, then it stopped there, the next lot sitting on my desk for inspiration.

I did make another little tag book (fodder school style with a stapler) to put all the doodle lines and shapes in as I come across them and to give me inspiration when I need it later on.

Last Thursday, badminton was cancelled as not enough players so I finished my Scripture52 card and went on to do a page in my new Bible for the same scripture.

“He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ” (Phil. 1:6).

I found the flower on the internet and sort of traced it from my PC screen before transferring it to my Bible page, water colouring and choosing some text. Pretty pleased how it turned out.

Loving these small full pages, not having to avoid text too.

So this was all last Thursday and Friday.

The only other vaguely crafty things I have done since is dye my hair and replace 2 strings on my harp.

Not played my harp for months, long before the first string broke back in July! Finally got around to replacing it only to find a 2nd had gone too. All back in working order and re-learning my few favourite pieces again.

WOYWW #741 - Scrapping & Bible Journaling

So here's a wider shot of my desk, it doesn't show all the stuff laid out on the foot of my bed whilst scrapping was in full swing...

Not a huge desk you must agree, but I seem to manage.

So yes the 175 photos arrived last week and I got to work. A couple were added to a previous page as an A4 sheet tucked behind the main one with a ribbon poking out. I have done the same with some new ones too in my day to day 12x12 albums.

I did 3 pages in my 8x8 family year book for 2022.

Our son's graduation in July.

When he left home and us visiting for Easter also him visiting in early December.

It's a really manageable size album and goes back to my pre-scrapping days from when we got married in 1998.

I then did the 2022 General Christmas page in my 12x12. I used the same Basic Grey paper (I had 3 the same) and used up bits of the cut up one for the embellishments.

I did another page in my Mini Bible.

Then a journal page from the prompt of what we have felt like over the past week, which inspired me to do a similar page actually in my little bible and also a tag from the fodder challenge mini book.

Feeling Broken as still not completely recovered from the virus and now hurt my back AGAIN. But I'm not crushed as Jesus is holding me firm.

I covered an A4 note Journal. (Fodder school method using pre-handmade papers)

I used up lots of spare die cut letters as a border. There's a similar green one on the inside front cover and red in the back.

Doodled with Posca pens (see end)

I've used up bits from various projects for the back of next weeks scripture52 card. Stamp whilst sorting another drawer out too.

And I did this weeks scripture52 card.

And last but not least I treated myself to some Posca Pens from Asda. Saw them last year but resisted. (School stuff only available this time of year). Did ponder the pastels or brights but guess what it is shopping day today so you never know what will jump into my basket.

WOYWW #740 - Shopping!

Needed to expand my world beyond the internet so I planned to visit all the local art/craft shops.

Sad to find the art shop in Sutton had essentially closed at the end of July and they were just selling off stock now - so sad.

So what's actually ON my desk? Hmmm, my calligraphy worksheets, managed to do the first week of the 4 week free drills course. It's exactly that "drills" not as easy as I'd thought it would be, a day behind again, only caught up on Sunday!

My delightful new little NT Bible where I did my first page with bits stuck in it, also a first for me, and I used my new stencil. The text is only on the left hand side and the end of the chapter affords even more space.

It's about putting your Hope in God as He is our provider. It is from 1 Timothy 6 and fits in nicely with the watercolour study I have just completed on 1 Timothy in my other Journaling Bible.

Whoop Whoop I now have TWO Journaling Bibles.

This one focused on pursuing righteousness, godliness, faith, love endurance and gentleness. Pretty similar to the fruit of the Spirit, truth be told.

There's a list of the photos I have just ordered, so might have 175 photos ready to scrap next week. That's a BIG job, always put it off, but have 9 months on the way - November 2022 to July 2023. Really tried not to order too many, trying hard to pick the special moments in life's rich tapestry.

My new spoils mostly hidden...

From Sutton (The Works, Ryman and Art Shop)

From a little independent art and craft shop in Coulsdon (A3 Multimedia pad, Aqua tone, charcoal and #8 brush) - might even be ready for making a masterboard now.

Last week I did my August Bible Journal page with the free printable from  Bible Journal Minsteries (hosts of the conference in October).

It was a facebook live of how to do a background if you don't have a Gelli Plate. (which I don't). Although I have put a Gelli Plate on my Christmas List.

Thanks to Spyder and her reference to Ceri the Crafter last week I made a little match booklet for my #scripture52 pieces. I've doodled and added more to it since I took this photo.

WOYWW #739 - Painting & Happy Mail

Oh my what a week! Think you might need a cuppa for this one!

Still struggling with a sore throat after 12 days of it, even broke out the paracetamol last night (very unusual for me).

Not being up to my usual activities of dancing, badminton, gardening, cooking or housework, I have been able to sit a while at my craft desk.

I got the acrylics out and had some fun making backing papers, plus sorting my paint stash drawer as they hadn't seen the light of day for YEARS!

Been watching lots of reels on Facebook and the cats came from one of those. Really quite satisfying and amazing at the same time.

I did actually make a card from all my play time!

I also made a couple of journal pages using pieces from all the fodder challenge days.

I used fodder on a scrapbook layout too.

Whoop! whoop!

There is a certain satisfaction knowing I'd made the embellishments myself.

My last lot of printed photos are a bit sad, I went to the funeral of an acquaintance from dancing, last November and I used the time at the crematorium to go and see the plaque for my son's friend.

The plaid backing is a reminder of his "Funky Shirts".

The metal benches seem to be a "thing" these days.

Then there's my scripture card.

Oh and I did some watercolour play too.

The backing paper of this card with some stamping, plus some spare papers like the acrylic ones above.

I followed an on line tutorial, by Diane Antone

Pretty pleased with this one.

I seem to have signed up for a number of FREE courses/classes/tutorials. Most are watercolour and one is Modern Brush Calligraphy and that was only as I wondered how to use the Fudenosuke pens I bought ages ago....

And so to my happy mail.

First I got my replacement ATC from Angela plus some extra bits and bobs, I love my little "Wonky House", thank you Angela.

Then I got my giveaway prize. A precious little Pocket Journaling Bible of the New Testament NIV version, plus a stencil all the way from Jamaica. I also got a gift card for the online printables so have got those as well. Super pleased.

Happy WOYWW Everyone.
