About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (usually about 6 months behind), plus any cards as required. I have a new found love of Watercolour and Bible Journaling plus recently Faith/Art Journaling too. I've challenged myself to make an art journal page a day for this my 60th year. Previously I've also dabbled in ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery amongst other things. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing. I also like walking/Geocaching and sometimes do a bit of Bouncing on my Rebounder (mini trampoline). I have been learning to play the harp for the past 10yrs. I am now officially retired. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Vineyard Church.

WOYWW #804 - Devotion In Action and Daily Journal

Hello everyone, and for once I remembered to take a photo as I was about to paint in my bible Tuesday morning. Certainly makes a change to an empty desk.

I use my stool and a piece of hardboard as an extra surface whilst crafting (foreground). I have Devotion In Action's You Tube Video poised with the printable ready to choose the image size to trace into my Bible.

We're doing a 10 day More Women of the Bible series following on from the Bible Journaling Conference. I'm loving painting the hair!

Here's the past weeks pages;

First Tabitha who was raised from the dead;

Huldah who was a prophet consulted by the king;

Jezebel the evil wife of  King Ahab and

Bathsheba, the misunderstood woman.

Then the Heiresses / 5 daughters of Zelophedad;

Peninnah a very sad woman who was the rival to Hannah; and

Lydia the business woman, who was a dealer in purple cloth.

On the daily journal front, Tuesday and Wednesday I used some more left over images from the conference.

I used one of the smaller printables of Huldah on Thursday. This is the only notable woman I hadn't really been aware of despite having read through the Bible numerous times, so I was quite taken by her story, which is found in 2 Kings 22:14-20 and/or 2 Chronicles 34:22-28. We did actually have her in the conference too.

Friday I used some more conference pieces.

Saturday's page was after the ladies day at church, the angel just asked to be added to the painted background. We'd had a testimony about a midwife called Angel.

For Monday's page I used plasterer's tape to bolster my flimsy pages (see Sunday below), plus a Gecko Gals fairy from a few months ago.

I had a bit of a "mare" on Sunday night as I was a bit "gung ho" with the watercolours and this penultimate middle page of the last signature got so wet it broke out of the stitching!

I patched it up as well as I could using pieces of collage to join it back together and back in the journal. Not bad that it's actually taken till October for this to happen really!

So that's my week

Happy WOYWW Everyone.

I guess now you’ve done that watercolour fail once, you’ll not repeat it! I thought you sorted out the issue really well with the pages and tape, I’d never have noticed anything was wrong!

Love all of the eleven women you have painted in your `Bible. Can understand you enjoying doing the hair.
I remember a workshop with Dyan Reavley where we were creating lots of backgrounds in our large journals. Some started to fall to bits (mine included) on account of all the water. Just be careful. it can happen to the best (Dyan not me)

Great Bible art and journal pages. I read about Huldah. I have had that problem with an art journal. Some people protect the centre with a strip of masking tape or similar. Happy WOYWW. Angela #13

I'm with Angela, I don't do a lot of journalling but if I'm using a lot of wet stuff, sprays etc, I start but attaching masking tape to the spine. Love your ladies too. Wishing you a very happy and creative woyww. Hugs Angela x11x

your Bible journal pages are so good, BJ! well done for rescuing the damaged page, it's easily done especially on thin paper. Happy WOYWW Helen #2

Yikes! I know the damage water can do to a house, so I guess it makes sense it can happen to a journal too. Well done with the rescue. Great pages - you are so prolific. Love the Friday confernce one. So pretty.
Catching the last few! Happy late WOYWW
